This Design-Build of a full service Marriott Hotel, located in the heart of downtown Fairbanks, is a 6-story, 95,000 square foot structural steel building. The exterior has an insulated curtain wall assembly comprised of insulated panels with factory applied granite finish, custom stone finish accents, and architectural steel canopies and awnings. The first floor contains hotel operations, guest facilities, an indoor pool, public retail areas, food service, and a restaurant. The hotel has 140 guestroom suites in floors two through six. Marriott International issued the 2001 Construction Excellence Award to this project.
Site development included demolition of existing buildings and excavation of a city block for a new 17,000 square foot raft foundation system. City utilities and public facilities such as sidewalks and lighting were upgraded and extended.
