Alaska Native Hire
“ In
1996 on the construction of the Marriott Courtyard
Hotel, your company provided jobs and training
opportunities for 28 NANA shareholders and
8 other Alaska natives. Your company made a
commitment prior to contract award and has ‘walked
the talk’!”

Davis Constructors encourages Native hire to the greatest
extent possible and has implemented local hire
programs with a great deal of success.
Company Philosophy
It is our
corporate goal to perform projects by utilizing
native residents, subcontractors and equipment whenever
possible. In order to provide the best possible
service to our customer, we will exercise every effort
to employ as many qualified people from within those
regions in Alaska that the project can support.
We tailor native hire programs to
meet the specific needs of the Owner. For example Davis
met with NANA and developed a plan to maximize shareholder
hire. Working in conjunction with the Alaska Southern
Carpenter’s Union a plan was developed to utilize
a 50% ratio of journeymen union carpenters to NANA
Shareholder apprentices/trainees. Over thirty
NANA Shareholders were employed.
As a general contractor based in
Alaska, we acknowledge the genuine need for native
hire within the state. We recognize that people are
the key to our success and it is our responsibility
to provide a safe environment conducive to personal
growth and development. |
