Municipal Permit Center
Anchorage, Alaska
Owner: Anchorage Permit and Development Center, LLC

Architects: Porath/Tatom Architects

Project Start Date: May 1999

Project Completion: January 2000

This 60,000 sf office building was a design/build lease back for the Municipality of Anchorage. JL Properties, Porath/Tatom Architects, and Davis Constructors provided the innovative cost effective proposal and started work in May, 1999 with substantial completion in January, 2000. An existing charter school and bus parking facility had to be removed and relocated prior to the construction of the Permit Center. The two story structural steel frame office building has a grade beam pad footing foundation with a brick tile exterior wall finish, heated exterior sidewalk, and a main entry with granite tile floor. The main lobby is accented with a skylight open to the second floor. State of the art controls, security system, and 100% emergency generator power complete this facility which enables the Municipality to provide one stop service for the building community.
