This project consisted of remodeling the existing 33,000 sf school and constructing a new gymnasium and classroom wing to bring the total building area to 56,000 sf on ten acres. The new school has 26 classrooms and all core support elements such as a multi-purpose room with adjacent music room and stage, gymnasium and Library. Site-work included a new kindergarten playground, asphalt, utilities, sidewalks and landscaping. This project began in March with a night shift to begin replacing the mechanical and electrical systems. Additionally, work was started on the new classroom wing during the day. According to the contract, the existing school with the art room addition, was required to be substantially complete by August 15, 2000. The gym and classroom wing were to be complete by December 15, 2000. This scenario required the school to move back into the existing school in August then move again in December. However, Davis completed the entire project by August 15, 2000 to allow for a single move four months ahead of schedule.
