This
project encompasses three structures: a medical office building,
a sky bridge and a parking structure. The design concept for
the grounds and structures is to continue the Providence campus
feeling and create a healing environment for patients and
staff. The site is laid out so the buildings are oriented
and configured to have a short, direct link to the existing
hospital. A circular drop-off driveway creates a second main
entry. Walkways and therapeutic landscaping will capitalize
on the nearby Chester Creek Greenbelt, creating safe and comfortable
areas fro walking, sitting and relaxing.
The
medical office building is a prototype design that can be
repeated for two future medical office buildings connected
by a hub. The moment frame system creates floor plates that
are flexible and efficient both initially and for future expansions.
The hub is the full height of the office building, allowing
for medical office suites to expand horizontally as new office
buildings are built. The centralized lobby will have an elevator
bank, making destinations visible for way finding, creating
a comfortable welcoming environment. The exterior of the building
incorporates a signature Providence appearance, and will be
attractive and functional.
The
sky bridge features a wide central section for informal gatherings
and enhanced walking experience. The piles will be driven
in the winter and modules will be built off-site or on the
office building pad, and lifted into place to further protect
the wetlands is spans.
The
parking structure lobby is located on the Northeast (closest)
corner to the medical office building. Interior finish systems
have been chosen to enhance long life. The layout minimized
visual obstruction and blind corners for an open, airy, safe,
and inviting environment.
